My photo used as book cover

In 2014, graphic artist Phyllis Peterson (Magnolia Studio), my longtime friend and website development colleague landed a job to produce a book from a creative and unique manuscript. As she moved through the process of organizing, editing, and proofreading the content, she had the inspiration that some of my photos would add a visual component to enhance the presentation of the story. Together we selected a group of several dozen possibilities from my portfolio, and she ultimately chose 21 images based on what sections of the narrative she felt they'd fit with. She pitched the idea to the author's agent, who was excited by it. He presented the idea to the author, and he agreed.

Phyllis and I drew up a Digital Image Usage Contact, that granted the agent non-exclusive, one-time, print-use rights to display this series of 21 of my images in the book Synchronistic, by Ashley Isaac Stevens, copyright ©2013, published by ROR Productions, Santa Rosa, California, USA, 2014, ISBN: 978-1-4675-9162-1.

The first image, cropped, and flipped, is used on both the front and back covers, as shown in the image above. The other images appear as backgrounds behind poems and other text throughout the book, on the page or pages indicated in the descriptive text that accompanies the images in the 'lightbox' enlargements that open when any of the thumbnails on this page is clicked.

The book's manuscript editing, excellent art design and layout, as well as the selection of which of my photos to use, was done by Phyllis Peterson of Magnolia Studio, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, USA (magnoliastudio.com).
